Lacrosse in Wheeling, West Virginia
Lacrosse has been growing in popularity over the last decade. Slowly our Ohio Valley high schools are developing great programs and introducing our youth to this popular worldwide sport. What began as stickball, a Native American contest played by tribal warriors, Lacrosse is now an interscholastic, professional and international sport.
Lacrosse is a team sport, where they use a lacrosse stick to carry, pass, catch, and shoot the ball into a goal. There are several variations of the game, but most commonly played on fields (indoor turf or outdoor grass).
Local Wheeling schools like The Linsly School and Wheeling Park offer lacrosse programs, but Wheeling residents are not limited to these high school programs. Highlands Sports Complex offer camps, classes, and leagues to help build the best lacrosse players.
