Expos were founded on three principles: to educate, exchange, and exhibit. Education for the public. Promoting the exchange of new innovation, and exhibiting the latest products. Founded in 1851, the very first World Expo was a unique gathering of nations, showcasing material progress based on technological innovation.

As the world evolved, expos remained important events that allowed people to come together to share new discoveries and technologies, while promoting the arts.

Today, expos can be small- or large-scale events. Also referred to as trade fairs or expositions, like-minded companies attend expos to explore new business opportunities or developments and share their services.

Preparing to Attend an Expo

Similar to events like trade shows and exhibitions, be prepared to give a full presentation about your company. Demonstrations of products, explanation of services, and answering questions are all to be expected at an expo.

These are also great for networking. When attending an expo, you’ll be surrounded by companies in your industry that present opportunities for making connections and having thoughtful industry-related conversations.

You’ll need to prepare to set up a booth that features marketing materials and products. You’ll have plenty of room to display all pertinent information regarding the latest announcements from your company.

Attending an Expo at Highlands Sports Complex

Demonstrations are a top priority for expos which means space is necessary. Highlands Sports Complex has over 200,000 square feet of event space. Whether the crowd is going to be small or large, we have you covered.

Traditionally used for sports, our event space can be set up with total wide open spaces, or we can section off specific areas with ceiling-to-floor curtains for any level of privacy. All event areas also come equipped with proper floor coverings.

With many tip and roll bleachers around the complex, you’ll have room to take a break in between conversations with industry professionals. We offer ample, free, accessible parking and a warm welcome from our friendly, professional staff. Our facility capacity is near 11,000 people so the building comes fully equipped with amenities including multiple bathrooms, individual meeting rooms, additional viewing areas, and large hallways.

The complex is surrounded inside and out with many dining options. Inside the facility is a full-service café where you can grab a bite to eat in between sessions. Just a foot out of the doors of HSC is a full development area called The Highlands. There are 90+ restaurants, shopping, hotels and more to choose from just seconds away.

Sports may be in our name, but Highlands Sports Complex was designed to host the best events of all kinds. Our affordable venue is a one-stop shop destination for events happening in the Ohio Valley.

Trade Shows

Trade shows require a lot of space – and we have just that. There is no limit to our facility. The indoor turf alone is 88,000 square feet! If you’re still looking for more room, we can add on the fieldhouse, which is 44,000 square feet. You’ll have space for every vendor to show off their products and services.

Conferences

Whether it’s a for a smaller executive meeting or a big corporate event, we have the amenities ready for you. There are four designated meeting spaces equipped with technology for the smaller to mid-size groups. For larger groups, we can transform the traditional basketball court(s) into a meeting room by sectioning off the area with our curtains, setting up chairs, and providing technology for speakers.

Conventions

The open concept for your convention may not be suitable for you. That’s why we can section off areas of the facility through our state-of-the-art curtains? We can take our open six basketball courts and section them off into six private enclosed areas. The same goes for the indoor turf – we can set up four enclosed areas for your convention. And don’t forget the four designated meeting space areas. That’s 14 individual areas to host the different parts of your convention.
