The town of Steubenville, Ohio sits alongside the banks of the Ohio River where oftentimes you are able to hear the music of hometown legend Dean Martin nestling through the homes and streets proudly marking its spot in musical history. Along with the likes of Martin, Steubenville has also been called home to many more greats in the sports world.

Sylvia Crawley, a Steubenville High School multi-sport standout, excelled in her high school career as a Big Red, solidifying her a full scholarship to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During her time at UNC, Crawley and her teammates clinched the 1994 national championship game where Crawley was also named MVP. Furthering her career, Crawley found her way to the American Basketball League (playing for the Colorado Explosion ‘96-’97 and the Portland Power ‘97-’98) and the WNBA’s Portland Fire and San Antonio Silver Spurs. After retiring from the WNBA, Crawley continued her coaching ventures at various different colleges such as Fordham University, Ohio University, Boston College, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Born in Steubenville, Ohio, Chaz Roe was drafted into the MLB by the Colorado Rockies. From there, Roe would continue to play for the likes of the Arizona Diamondbacks, New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles, Atlanta Braves, and the Tampa Bay Rays.
